M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore is the home ground for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Government owned stadium was formerly known as Karnataka State Cricket Association stadium. The stadium was renamed after former president of BCCI Mr. Mangalam Chinnaswamy.

The Bangalore franchise was bought by Vijay Mallya in 2008 auction. Now the owner of the franchise is United Spirits Limited.

Team Name

The team name Royal Challengers Bangalore is derived from one of the brand of Vijay Mallya's liquor brand Royal Challenge.

Rahul Dravid was the first captain of RCB in 2018. Later Kevin Pietersen, Anil Kumble, Daniel Vettori, Shane Watson were the captains. Currently Virat Kohli holds the position.
